A race across the ocean
In December 2026, You Row Girl will compete in the World's Toughest Row – Atlantic, a 3,000-mile endurance challenge across the Atlantic Ocean.
The World’s Toughest Row is held annually in December and brings together rowers of all ages and genders from around the world who share the aim of rowing 3,000 miles from San Sebastián de La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean. The race is completed either in teams or solo, with crews being fully self-sufficient, relying on a watermaker, navigational equipment, satellite phone, dehydrated rations and their own ability to make the crossing, fighting through waves exceeding 20 feet, sleep deprivation and the forces of the ocean environment.
You Row Girl will be rowing in a boat specially designed for the ocean, built to withstand the harsh marine environment. Like all adventure sports, ocean rowing is not without its risks; however, all teams are supported 24/7 via satellite phone by the race’s land-based duty officers and two safety yachts in case of emergency. The team has already completed their required safety courses and has made good progress toward completing the required number of mandatory rowing hours.
